PRESS RELEASE
(TORONTO–December 14, 2011) Banyan Work Health Solutions Inc. today announced the launch of a new referral program for leading international financial services organization, Sun Life Financial. This arrangement offers Sun Life clients added value to their existing Absence and Disability Management group benefits by providing them with access to an occupational claims management service that will further enhance their plans.
Under the Absence Management Program, Banyan will provide occupational case management services to employers across Canada under the label of Banyan Claim Solutions. Within Banyan Claim Solutions some of the services offered will include:
Supporting and facilitating an early, safe and sustainable return-to-work
Providing support to ensure the employee limits time from work as a result of a work related injury/Illness
Reviewing and filing Accident Report Forms with Workers’ Compensation Boards (WCB) on the employer’s behalf, and following up with the WCBs to ensure proper and timely management of the claim file.
“We are pleased to be working with Sun Life Financial on this much-needed initiative,” said Michele Parent, VP Employer Services, Banyan Work Health Solutions, a leader in health management solutions for employers and insurers. “The Association of Workers’ Compensation Boards of Canada reports the total cost of Workers’ Compensation benefits paid to injured and ill employees in 2009 for assessable employers was a staggering 5 billion dollars. This figure represents costs for loss of earnings, survivor, health care and rehabilitation benefits. Banyan partners with employers to reduce costs associated all absences”.
