Director, Claims, Banyan Work Health Solutions

Kim Zinck

Director

Kim is responsible for overseeing and implementing the promotion of best practice standards for Banyan’s clients with respect to claims and disability management, with a strong emphasis on customer focus, quality, professionalism and results. This includes raising Banyan’s profile as a partner in the management of disability claims for both insurers and employers. Kim joined Banyan in 2007 as a Work Health Consultant and transitioned into a manager role in Insurer Services in 2009 before taking on her current role in 2012. She has actively worked in the field of disability and claims management for over 20 years.

Kim has a talent for leading teams to maximize performance capabilities and has been instrumental in developing and incorporating a culture of leveraging metrics and data to achieve superior claims performance outcomes and return on investment for customers. With the rise in mental health issues and claim complexity, she has been integral in leading initiatives around ongoing skill development within the Banyan network, including incorporation of evidence-based motivational interviewing principles into disability claims management practices.

In addition to her role at Banyan, Kim has worked extensively with organizations in the forestry industry to evaluate, develop and implement in-house disability management and injury prevention programs, and to influence the incorporation of human factor design with large scale structural projects. She has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University and has been accepted by the Supreme Court of British Columbia to provide expert testimony in the areas of functional abilities evaluations and return-to-work.
