Banyan work health solutions announces an expansion of its partnership with Sun life financial- Program to help employers manage absences - PRESS RELEASE (TORONTO–December 14, 2011) Banyan Work Health Solutions Inc. today announced the launch of a new referral program for leading international financial services organization, Sun Life Financial. This arrangement offers Sun Life clients added value to their existing Absence and Disability Management group benefits by providing them with access to an occupational claims management service that will further enhance their plans. And most employers are only too happy to make this happen by offering appropriate programs. However, work absence rates among Canadian employees have been steadily increasing for more than a decade and there is no sign of a reversal to this trend. In fact, Statistics Canada reported in its 2009 Work Absence Rate report that in an average week in 1999, 6.0% of full-time employees holding one job were absent from work for all or part of the week for personal reasons. By 2009, the figure had risen to 8.2%. Total work time missed also rose, from 3.2% of the scheduled week in 1999 to 3.9% in 2009.
